About Light Cycles

“Reflections on the human experience; sculpting with air, time & light”

Light Cycles are contemporary kinetic light sculptures; they are the result of a quest to express life’s experience; resulting in ever-changing compositions that seduce the viewer into the changing nature of the now.

Each piece is a constantly changing constellation of translucent materials and light, created with repurposed materials that are available in each particular moment in time.

IV. The Empress

Glass, steel, spotlight (2023)

The Empress is a kinetic art installation, made of 4 tumbling elements; responding to natural airflow, projecting a never repeating colour composition onto the wall. Described as a powerful, hypnotic and soothing visual meditation.

“The Empress as an archetype represents the desire within every living thing to grow and flourish. She stands for embracing intuition, receptivity and creativity, and follows the flow of life.

III. Adrift

Glass, steel, spotlight (2023)

Adrift is a kinetic light installation, made of 3 tumbling elements; responding to natural airflow, projecting a never repeating colour composition onto the wall.

“Adrift is a constellation made to heal the despair of feeling lost. Surrendering to not-knowing means opening up to everything. Which comes with a sense of being free and floating and connected at the same time.”

Described as a playful presence and bringing joyful energy into the room.

II. Confessions

Glass, steel, spotlight (2023)

Confessions is a kinetic light installation, made of two precisely composed tumbling elements; responding to natural airflow, never repeating itself. Described as a timeless and powerful presence in the room.

“Confessions is both cosmic and personal in nature. Celestial phenomena emerge—a solar eclipse, black holes drawing in light, the union of cells. When these shapes of light loom from afar, up close, they strike the heart with clarity. And might call to move another way.”

I. The Dance

Glass, steel, spotlight (2023)

The Dance is a kinetic light sculpture, made of two juxtaposed tumbling glass lenses; responding to natural airflow, never repeating itself. Described as an elegant and dynamic presence in the space.

“The Dance” is a playful, sensual interaction between two characters made of shadow and light. These bodies are in constant relation; Occasionally, they kiss tenderly or retreat shyly inward.

Dreams

Variable set-up of steel, glass, acrylic, spotlights (ongoing development)

This site-specific piece is rather a system than an object. It consists of a kinetic structure with suspended elements to it. Various light sources can project real-time animations and floating reflections into the space. In this way, Dreams can be custom set-up for large or intimate spaces, outdoor- or indoor settings and with bold or gentle effects.

“Dreams is a physical manifestation of the constantly changing landscape of thoughts and feelings. Nothing will ever be the same, and reality has endless perspectives to it.”
